Job Description
The Patient Advocate position supports and contributes to the Patient Retention team efforts for the company. This position is responsible for the day-to-day patient advocate work and processes. Key responsibilities are listed below, however, this position may be asked to perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
- Create and review daily schedule reports to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Update and maintain contacts database.
- Create and maintain patient medical records, ensuring they are accessible in the EMR system.
- Ensure all patient demographics are accurately recorded.
- Send necessary documents via fax when required.
- Manage and respond to patients’ calls, as well as follow up with patients when necessary.
- Comply with company guidelines particularly related to quality of service.
- Collects data and prepares reports on customer complaints and inquiries.
- Introduces patients to the patients’ right's brochure; confirming their understanding of who to contact with questions or concerns.
- Documents patient complaints and resolves by listening to patients and their families.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of services offered to members.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of three years in customer service or patient retention role; at least one year in supervisory role.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements :
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
