Job Description

Summary

Prepares and delivers relevant and current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods and standardized assessment tools that accurately reflect effectiveness of course content

Essential Job Functions

Measures student understanding of course content
Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
Distributes to each student, in each course, a university approved syllabus that includes course objectives, texts, attendance policy and materials required for course and evaluation criteria
Communicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
Refers students to appropriate university sources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree or greater in criminal justice, criminology or a related field of study from a regionally accredited institution, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
Five or more years of professional experience working in criminal justice or in other related work
Established record of or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research
The ability to teach an array of criminal justice courses in the program
Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with teaching
Ability to teach during daytime hours

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.

College/university transcripts are required prior to hire.
