Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Our Enterprise Solutions Development Division (ESDD), Health Team is currently seeking an Information Technology Associate (IT Assoc).

The IT Assoc works in the Health Team within the ESDD and will support the myCalPERS (MCP) system. Under general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the IT Assoc is responsible for triaging production issues, successful resolution of defects and implementation of enhancements of the MCP system. The IT Assoc works closely with the solutions architects, business analysts, developers, testers of their own domain and other domains. The IT Assoc works, both independently and cooperatively with others, to carry out assignments using considerable judgment to achieve objectives while following established time frames and performance standards. This position significantly utilizes Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices to maintain and enhance the MCP system. The IT Assoc position works primarily in the Software Engineering domain.

  • Experience in developing, maintaining and enhancing complex programs using Java (J2EE), Java Server Pages (JSP), JavaScript, Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Spring Framework, eXtensible Markup Language (XML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
  • Ability to develop Object Oriented and web interface applications, Model View Controller (MVC) frameworks and JUnit Test Scripts, Web Services, Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) integration, and Design patterns
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and maintain effectiveness in varying responsibilities and changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner with a diverse community
  • Reason systematically and technologically to analyze and resolve issues with application development solutions
  • Ability to participate collaboratively in JAD sessions, and design and code reviews with peers and customers
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
