The laboratory of Dr. Krushna Patra in the Department of Cancer & Cell Biology, College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, is looking for a motivated research assistant starting summer 2025. The research focus of the lab is to understand the interplay of cellular signaling and metabolism in the tumorigenesis processes. The employee will have the opportunity to be involved in the active research environment to answer important questions related to the development and treatment of pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancer. This experience will be valuable to pursue graduate school, medical school or other related higher studies. With active involvement in the research projects, the candidate will share authorship in the publications from the laboratory.
The employee will work very closely with and receive direct training from Dr. Patra and other members of the lab, which may include postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and clinical fellows. The primary duty of the position is to assist in performing experiments related to tissue culture (maintenance of cancer cells and organoids), molecular biology (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, biochemical assays and, western blot) and mouse models of cancer (mouse breeding, genotyping, surgery, tumor cell implantation and tissue harvesting).
