Job Description

Continental Services is seeking a highly skilled and resourceful Revenue Recognition Manager to join our finance team in this newly created role. This position is critical to ensuring proper revenue recognition under ASC 606, financial reporting integrity, and seamless integration of our revenue accounting processes across all operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in an fast-paced environment with the need to build robust revenue recognition frameworks from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Recognition & Analysis

  • Identify, analyze, and properly recognize revenue streams that may not be immediately evident in standard reporting
  • Develop and implement comprehensive revenue recognition policies in accordance with accounting standards (ASC 606)
  • Perform detailed analysis of complex revenue transactions and contracts
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end revenue close processes

Financial Systems & Reconciliation

  • Reconcile revenue transactions from multiple POS systems to the General Ledger to ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Monitor transaction flow through point-of-sale systems to validate accurate revenue capture and timing
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between operational systems and financial records that could impact revenue recognition
  • Maintain detailed documentation of revenue reconciliation processes and supporting accounting judgments

Integration & Acquisition Support

  • Support acquisition activities by ensuring revenue processes translate accurately to acquiring company accounting systems
  • Collaborate with integration teams to map revenue streams during M&A activities
  • Develop and execute revenue integration plans for new business units or acquisitions
  • Ensure compliance with acquiring company's revenue recognition standards and procedures

Process Development & Optimization

  • Create and document revenue recognition processes and accounting policies in an environment with minimal existing documentation
  • Develop internal controls and procedures to ensure revenue recognition accuracy and ASC 606 compliance
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in revenue accounting
  • Build scalable revenue recognition frameworks to support company growth

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare detailed revenue analysis and reporting for senior management
  • Develop key performance indicators and dashboards for revenue tracking
  • Provide insights on revenue trends, variances, and opportunities
  • Support budget and forecast processes with accurate revenue projections

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue recognition, technical accounting, or finance
  • Strong background in ASC 606 implementation and complex revenue recognition scenarios
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience in food and beverage or hospitality industry strongly preferred

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
  • Experience with POS systems and their integration with accounting systems
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
  • Experience with acquisition integration and system consolidation

  • Knowledge of franchise or multi-location revenue models
  • Experience building processes from scratch in high-growth environments
